Guess what?! We are only nine weeks out from the Boston Marathon! So, have you wondered about what kind of runners qualify for the Boston Marathon. I mean, it’s a big deal. For many marathoners, qualifying for Boston is the ultimate goal. We are inspired by and excited for all of the runners running Boston this year. We want to introduce you to two friendly rabbits who will be battling the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boylston Square this year with a short Q&A session:
Amanda Cruise
Where do you call home?
Texas! Born and raised!
What keeps you busy besides your running?
Being a mom to 3 boys (twins 5yrs and 7). They're practical jokers and keep me on my toes!
How long have you been running?
I started running in April 2012! So, I'll be celebrating my 5 year RUNniversary in Boston this year!
Any pre-race traditions/superstitions?
I always have a glass of merlot the night before the race. It helps me relax and makes me run faster race morning (wink wink).
Have you run Boston before? How many times?
I ran Boston for the first time in 2016! I went to enjoy it with no pressure and ran a PR! Boston has that affect on you!! The crowd support is amazing!
Where did you run your BQ?
I qualified for Boston at the Chevron Houston Marathon in 2014! It was my first marathon!
What is your goal for Boston this year?
Sub 2:55!
Bronson Venable
Where do you call home?
I live in Warwick, Rhode Island. It doesn't have much altitude, however, we do have all 4 seasons! You have to be somewhat tough to run throughout the year...or really like the treadmill!
What keeps you busy besides your running?
I work full time for Southwest Airlines as a Ramp Agent at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, R.I.. I usually try to work around 50-60 hours a week. My job is so flexible, it allows me to get my runs and workouts in and still be able to have a social life!
How long have you been running?
I've been running since I was about 8 years old.
Where did you run your BQ?
I ran my first marathon and BQ in 2015 at the Walt Disney World Marathon. Looking back, it probably wasn't the smartest decision I've made. I registered for the Dopey Challenge and after the half marathon, I was wishing I didn't. I remember for the first time starting to hit the infamous "wall" at mile 20. I attempted to take down every POWERade, Gu, and gel I could, but it was too late. The last 6.2 was certainly a struggle. I finished in 2:56:38 and got my BQ in a painful way.
Have you run Boston before? How many times?
Last year was my first time running Boston. The 2016 Boston Marathon will always have a special meaning because I proposed to my now wife, at mile 26. The proposal was more nerve-wracking then the actual marathon, so it made Boston a little easier to cross the finish.
What is your goal for Boston this year? I'm still up in the air with my goal this year, but it can go 1 of 2 ways: Goal #1: sub 2:36. Goal #2: just go out with the leaders and hopefully give rabbit some TV time for at least 10miles.
Favorite rabbit product(s)?
My favorite rabbit bottoms are the Daisy Dukes! Everyone loves a little more thigh action! My favorite top has to be the speed sleeves! The material is lightweight, breathable, and form fitting! Honestly, I'm not only proud to be a part of this company but I'm proud of Jill and Monica because they practice what they preach! They know all about running, what runners like, and they are always willing to adapt and add new inventory as well as bring back old fan favorites!
Good luck to all those racing the Boston Marathon 2017! Train hard, recover well, enjoy the miles, and have fun! We will be rooting for you at the finish line.
