Qualifying Race and Time: 2023 Chicago Marathon; 2:17:04

How did you feel when you qualified? What was that experience like? It was my marathon debut so I was expecting to not expect much. That being said, I still decided to give the OTQ mark a shot. I got to about mile 16 and just had that gut feeling that I was going to hit the OTQ. It was an amazing sensation having the feeling of complete control over a distance which normally challenges even the best of runners. It was such a rewarding experience. I’m not sure I could have asked for a better race!

What dream are you chasing at the Trials?

I would like to say I’m in the race to be an Olympic hopeful, but the truth is that it’ll only be my second marathon against a field of much faster veterans. I just want to go out and compete against some of the best marathoners in the country. Just being at the trials is a dream come true. So I just want to make the most of the experience and learn what I can for hopefully my next Olympic trials!
